Learning and Lunching

This post actually combines two passions: dining out and my continuing adventures in the blogging world.

Bottlerock interior, wine wall and exposed kitchen

The setting for my second blogger workshop was at the downtown restaurant BottleRock, located at Flower & 11th, just steps from L.A. Live/Staples Center. After taking in some of the finer aspects of search engine optimization, tagging, and Photoshopping tips, the attendees were served a buffet lunch of assorted pizzas and sandwiches (turkey, roasted vegetable, and “grilled cheese of the day” – always a personal favorite), “bottlerock salad” (lettuce, roasted corn, cherry tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette), chocolate chip cookies and a variety of old-fashioned sodas (a childhood fave Dr. Pepper for me) – necks poking out from a pair of ice buckets. Will definitely have to head back for a Croque Madame or “mini” charcuterie & cheese plate from the “Rush Hour” menu that’s served on Saturdays from 3:30 to 6 (also Mondays from 4:30 to 7).

While the workshop was held in a private lounge section of the restaurant, the main dining areas are cooly appointed:  olive tones, wood slat ceiling, and wine shelving/crate displays complement the exposed kitchen. There are also two outdoor patios – one side with a street-facing counter and high-tops around the corner.

At the conclusion of the workshop, our group did a little wine tasting and networking before packing up our laptops and heading out into the mid-afternoon downtown heat.
